Greetings fellow Rocketeers!
In 1970 the 1st Alberta Annual Regional Meet (AARM-1) was held just outside of Edmonton. The Edmonton Rocketry Club is pleased to announce the 50th anniversary launch, AARM 50+2 to be held in Calmar Alberta, July 15-17 this year.
For any of you that can do the math this event was scheduled for 2020, however for obvious reasons we have had to delay the event. (Stupid Covid!)
The competition will include the same events as AARM-1, namely:
- A – Altitude
- A – Parachute Duration
- A – Streamer Duration
- B – Boost Glide
- D – Eggloft
- Open Spot Landing, and of course,
- Scale
The event is primarily a celebration and recognition of the history of Model Rocketry and recreational participants, and flights are encouraged.
For those hard-core competitors out there, we will be using the NAR Sporting Code for the majority of event rules (NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ROCKETRY (nar.org)). Please note this will not be a NAR sanctioned event and NAR membership is not required.
Additionally, many of you may be aware of the contributions that the Lufkin family made to Model Rocketry in Canada, including the creation of Canaroc Industries. Sadly, Roger Lufkin who many of you may know in person or by reputation, passed away last November and we will be taking time to recognize Roger, and Lufkin family (especially Mom!) and their contributions.
We have already confirmed the attendance of Alumni from across North America and hope you will consider adding this event to your summer plans.
Additional Information can be found at: Edmonton Rocketry Club - AARM-50 and a registration page can be found at: AARM 50+2 Registration. Please note the registration is a work in progress and it will be updated as new info becomes available.
